MashTV: Monday Night TV Sleepy Hollow Return!!

I'm sure I'm not the only one super excited to see where Abby and Ichabod find themselves at the start of the second season of Sleepy Hollow! It feels like I've been waiting for a whole year (the first season ended last January) and the wait is over tonight. Apparently the show picks up right where the season finale left off with Abbie in purgatory (a dollhouse no less) and Ichabod buried alive.

Here's a sneak peek.

Orphan Black

Who else is watching the brilliance that is Orphan Black? That amazing show that showcases the beyond fabulous performance of Tatiana Maslany? If you haven't watched it yet, let me catch you up: a grifter takes over another woman's life, who just happens to look like her. The catch - she's her clone. Soon Sarah, finds herself immeshed in a tangled web that includes her and her fellow clones running from two separate groups who want to use them. Each episode is a none stop road of fun.

I've brought this up to say that in the coming weeks I plan on running outfit posts based on each of the main clones: Sara, Helena, Cosima and Alison. For instance, Sara is none for her punk aesthetic with skinny jeans, cool t-shirts and a leather jacket along with body jewelry from some place like FreshTrends. You can catch up from the beginning on Amazon Prime. For now, check out the trailer below.

Hey, Terriers!

There are a lot of binge worthy shows, right now. I've already waxed on poetically about Orange is the New Black, now on to another favorite though, short lived show Terriers  I vaguely remember this from its original airing in 2010 and thought it was a show about...dogs? Not only was I wrong, but I totally missed out on a great show about two private detectives, Hank and Britt and the cases they solve week to week.  Set in San Diego, Hank is a former detective, recovering alcoholic who solves cases with his friend, Britt, a former thief.  The witty banter between the two remind me of another one of my favorite detective shows, Veronica Mars and the love they share for each other reminds me of my favorite bromance Corey and Shawn from Boy Meets World.  The entire series is streaming on Netflix, so check it out ;). I'm leaving you all with the theme song.

Regina King

Actress Regina King looked gorgeous in a lavender Alberta Ferretti gown at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards .   She has a very muscular build and the ruffles of the dress help give the illusion of curves.  Regina is also on one of my favorite shows Southland. It's definitely something you should check out.

MashTV: 2 Broke Girls

I have decided to review some of my favorite shows of the season. So let's get the ball rolling with CBS' 2 Broke Girls.

I'll start this review off by saying that I love Kat Dennings, she has a knack for playing tough as nails, but with a heart of gold characters and Max, one of the broke girls is no exception. Without giving too much away (I've only caught the first episode thus far), 2 Broke Girls follows Max and Caroline (Beth Behrs), the former a waitress working two jobs, who whips up amazing cupcakes (i don't know who makes them but they do look good), the latter the a former rich girl whose family loses all of their money thanks to her dad's ponzi scheme. For her part, Beth does a wonderful job of making Caroline likeable, you want to root for her right off the bat, not only because she's a fish out of water, but because you can tell she is determined to swim.  Created by Whitney Cummings and Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City), Broke Girls seems to be off to a good start.  The show is one of my favorite comedies of the year so far (I look forward to checking out Surburbgatory) because at the heart is an unlikely friendship. Can't wait to see what adventures these two go on.

Have you watched 2 Broke Girls? If so, what did you think? If you haven't checked out the entire first episode here. Enjoy!

Stats

Show: 2 Broke Girls

Starring: Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs

Gloria

If you're like me, you immediately associate Gloria Steinem with the women's right movement of the 60's and 70's. I'm pretty sure my assessment  of her didn't really go beyond that, luckily though I watched the HBO Documentary on her Gloria: In Her Own Words, a too short, if you ask me (it's just an hour long) overview of her life beginning with her first big story, an expose on the Playboy Club and the conditions the women there worked under. It was just the beginning of a new mission Ms. Steinem had on working for women's equality, a goal that is still not fully realized (women only make 75 cents for every $1 a man makes), it gives insight into the progress she has made in the 40+ years since she became one of the faces for the movement.  I was amazed at the negative feedback she encountered, especially from the other women who she was trying to help. Gloria's goal was for women to have a choice...something that my generation has definitely benefited from, even if we haven't fully realized the dream (of her or Dr. King but that's a story for another day). The film is definitely worth checking out. The trailer is below.

Fairly Legal

Sarah Shahi stars in the new USA show Fairly Legal which follows Kate, a legal mediator (my sister thought she had psychic powers like the medium or that Meg Cabot novel) who basically help solves other people's problems so that they don't go through court. I've only caught the first episode, but I liked it. Essentially Kate can solve everyone's problems, except for her own...which is why she has yet to divorce her husband and lives on her father's old boat (the Welcome A Broad). Overall, I liked the first episode and I will definitely be tuning in.

Fairly Legal airs at 10 p.m. (est) Thursday's on USA.

MashTV Style: Hellcats

I'm a little excited that the fall television season has started up again. One new show that I am interested to see is the CW's Hellcats, I posted a little preview about it  here and today I composed a little show-inspired look. The two main characters are Savannah Monroe (love that name, played by Ashley T.) the captain of the cheerleader squad and Marti Perkins (played by Aly M.) a kind of rebel who joins the squad to stay in school.

Savannah's style seems to be a little more girly/happy  so I chose this ModCloth, dress with cute ballet flats and an Asos clutch.

Marti's style is a little more rebel with a care, so I composed a look of featuring this American Eagle Anorak, which I like

MashTV: Covert Affairs

Let's talk about Covert Affairs, the new USA show that follows Annie (Piper Perabo), a new CIA recruit as she gets her feet wet in the spy business. When I first heard about this show I instantly thought about Sydney Bristow (loooved Alias), but surprisingly it's a story that works. Romance is at the heart of the story as Annie joins the CIA to basically forget about a lost love, who it turns out may be a covert agent himself. Rounding out the cast are Christopher Gorham as Auggie, the techie, Peter Gallagher as the head of a department and his wife, Kari Matchett as Annie's boss. Overall it was an engaging story and is definitely welcome to my summer line up.

Pop of Color

I know these first few photos of Leighton Meester and Blake Lively in Paris for Gossip Girl have been making the rounds on the internet, but I couldn't help but post these photos. Watching Gossip Girl is like a fashion feast for the eyes and if these photos indicate the things to come, I can't wait for season 4.

Blake looks great in these cobalt blue pants and Brian Atwood studded pumps.

MashPreview: HellCats

Ok, to be honest at first I was a little on the fence about the CW's new series Hell Cats, the original preview said cheerleaders  and more cheerleaders and I was uninterested.

However, the CW has redeemed themselves and released a full preview. The show centers around Marti Perkins a lawyer-to-be who decides to tryout for the cheerleading squad after losing her scholarship. The premise is basically Bring it On : The College Years (I know I wasn't the only one looking forward to see what happened at USC) with the cheerleaders living together like a sorority. My only regret is that I didn't think of it first! Click below to check out the preview.

MashFlashback: '80's Theme Songs

I was watching an old episode of Who's the Boss (we all know it was Mona right?), anyway, while singing along with the theme song, I realized, the composers in the '80's really knew how to write a theme song! Aside from the Boss, there was the A-Team, 227, Amen, Miami Vice, Family Ties, Jake and the Fatman, Golden Girls, Cheers... need I go on? Not only were the songs catchy, but they take me back down memory lane. So, what's your favorite theme song?

MashTV

This week a lot of new shows will premiere just in time for spring. First we have the CW with "Life Unexpected", while it's definitely not the Gilmore Girls-yet, the pilot was solid and follows Lux a 16 year old girl in foster care, who tracks down her birth parents in the hopes of being emancipated. Things don't work out as planned, but she does wind up with her birth mother and they both try to grow up together. Sound familiar? It should, while it's no Gilmore Girls, I still have high hopes for it.

I'll come back later to update with reviews on other new shows this spring, including ABC's The Deep End.

Ciao,

Marcie

MashTV

Southland premieres tonight at 10 p.m. on TNT. The gritty cop drama which originally aired on NBC before being canned this fall, due to lack of space on the line up will air commercial free with new footage.

For those of you who missed the original premiere last spring now's the time to get acquainted with the show which features an ensemble cast that includes Regina King (Ray, Miss Congeniality 2) and Benjamin McKenzie (The O.C.) TNT will re-air the entire first season and begin airing new episodes in March.

MASHTV

The season (series?) finale of Scrubs tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC, got me thinking about Turk and J.D.'s awesome bromance (they've never been apart, not even at Turk's honeymoon!) and other bromances of the past.

So far I have the adorable Shawn and Corey of Boy Meets World, one of my favorite shows growing up. The two had a truly unique relationship that was fun to watch.
What's your favorite bromance? Are bromances healthy? Is it possible for me to use bromance more than 10 times in one post? Leave your comments after the jump.
