Willow

Willow Smith is definitely creative when it comes to style, here is a behind the scenes video of a photo shoot she did for London Sunday Times Style section. My favorite look has to be the photo up above, love the earrings, nails and glasses (i actually want a pair).

MashMusic Review: The Lady Killer

I just picked up Cee Lo Green's new album The Lady Killer and I am in love with the entire album. Of course it has the catchy F**K You, about a guy who is with his old girlfriend, it has a '60s Motown vibe. I've played the whole album from start to finish and didn't skip one song (although I did replay a few). The album stays in line with his soul/hip-hop roots and one of favorite songs on the album is his collaboration with Lauren Bennet Love Gun, which is basically an ode to Cupid. Bennet is a member of the UK girls group Paradiso Girls (this is my first time hearing about them too), which from the look of their video is a Pussy Cat Dolls redux (Cee-Lo collaborated with them on Don't Cha).

Anyway,  if you love Gnarls Barkley, Outcast or even B.O.B. The Lady Killer is definitely the album for you. Below Cee Lo's video for F**k You (it's uncensored). And following that, a clip from next week's episode of Glee, featuring Gwyneth Paltrow (if you haven't heard her sing Cruisin' you should check it out on Itunes) singing the censored version Forget You. Enjoy!

Whip It

Willow Smith, progeny of Will and Jada Smith, has just released her first video for her first single Whip My Hair. The video is your typical pop fare for a pre-teen (it's set at school) but Willow's style and personality really shine in this vid, from the colorful nails to the on point make-up choices...she's definitely not your ordinary 9 year-old. My favorite hairstyle has to be the heart shaped braids. Enjoy!

Need to Know: Esperanza Spalding

I must admit I've heard about Esperanza before, but didn't really take a listen to after I saw her perform a tribute to Prince at the BET Awards.

She performed "Girlfriend" and definitely held her own against Janelle Monae and even Patti LaBelle. She hails from Portland, Oregon and performs classic jazz with a modern twists. Her first album then just check out her album Esperanza has been on constant replay on my ipod. And her second album Chamber Music Society, just relased today. . If you like Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu or even Ella Fitzgerald (one of my favorite singers) then she is definitely worth a listen. Besides anyone with hair as cool as hers has got to be a great performer ;).

Here she is on Jimmy Kimmel Live

As a bonus, here she is performing one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs Overjoyed

Another Day, More Katy

One of my favorite songs so far this summer. Here's Katy Perry's new video for "Teenage Dream", I like her styling in this video it's a lot more subdued, it doesn't even look like she has on a lot of make up.

MashMusic: Gaga on Today

I've been a huge fan of Lady Gaga since I first saw her Just Dance video. Her performance on this morning's Today show did not disappoint, I loved every minute. Here's her performance of  Bad Romance and Someone to Watch Over Me (her version is good, but check out Amy Winehouse's version).

MashMusic: Follow Me, Follow Me

Rapper Drake and Jimmy Kimmel teamed up for this song that uses tweets from celebrities. I'm a huge Drake fan (I've been following him since his Degrassi days) and this was just overall funny. You can follow me on Twitter btw, I promise not to discuss bedbugs.

MashMusic: Alicia Keys

Here's Alicia Keys' latest video Unthinkable (I'm Ready)

First off, let's skip over all of the racial tension and shoot right to the important part: her wardrobe! I kid, I kid, seriously, Chad Michael Murray as the love interest in an area where interracial dating is obviously frowned upon. But that doesn't stop the two loves from going after who they want. The video is shot beautifully, Alicia glows, Chad has a mullet in one scene, which I will forgive. Overall, I believe it's one of my favorite videos by Alicia. What do you guys think?

MashMusic: The Heavy - "How You Like Me Now?"

On my search for daily deals mp3 deals from Amazon, which features complete albums for $4.99 or less, I stumbled across The Heavy latest album The House That Dirt Built, which features the song How You Like Me Now (also heard in a Kia commercial). I don't know why I haven't been aware of this group before because they are beyond awesome! It's a mix of neo-soul and rock and they make amazing music. Here's a video of them performing on the David Letterman show, after which he asked them for an encore (apparently this is a first for the show). Enjoy!
