Whitney

In my house it was gospel, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.  I wasn't sure what I would post about the passing of Whitney Houston, words can not express how much I admired her and looked up to her as a child.  As an 80's baby, there really weren't that many  images of young Black women on the screen outside of the Cosby Show (and Holly Robinson Peete of 21 Jump Street) on the scene who simply commanded everyone's attention just by opening her mouth and belting out a tune.

On a side note, did anyone catch Madonna at the Superbowl Halftime? I thought she did an amazing job, loved the Cleopatra-esque opening and the Like a Prayer ending, was also glad to see LMFAO and MIA on the scene. 

Wearing Today

One of my favorite style stars Solange Knowles (how awesome is her hair?)is featured this month in British Vogue's photo diary.  On display are her love of bright prints, statement shoes and of course a clutch for day.  Past features have included shoe designer Charlotte Dellal and model Lily Aldridge can't wait to see what Solange has planned for the rest of the month.

Regina King

Actress Regina King looked gorgeous in a lavender Alberta Ferretti gown at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards .   She has a very muscular build and the ruffles of the dress help give the illusion of curves.  Regina is also on one of my favorite shows Southland. It's definitely something you should check out.

A little hard drive clearing, the last photo of the J. Crew trench makes me wish for spring.  As for Kelly Framel of The Glamourai look, I am currently on the hunt for a pair of good tassel earrings, though I may have to settle for this diy . 

Favorite Hues

Anyone who knows me knows that I looove painting my nails, it's kind of therapeutic, I catch up on Vampire Diaries and the Secret Circle on my DVR and paint away.

The colors from left to right are: Revlon Demure and Orly Mirror Mirror , Coquette Cutie , Blue Collar and Frisky.  I am typically an OPI girl, however Orly seems to go on great with one coat (though I do double up). What are some of your favorite colors? Let me know below. 

Leader of the Pack

Hope your 2012 is getting off to a lovely start! My year so far is going well, no complaints :). I've decided to start the year with Anna Della Russo, definitely one of my fave style stars. She has a knack for rocking bold prints and metallic colors, but also looks at home in a decidedly muted color palette.  Ms. Della Russo epitomizes the cool girl style I want to have when I grow up*.
