Mad About Mad Men

The cast of Mad Men is on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Not only is it one of the best shows on television, it's one of the more stylish (Betty Draper's day dresses alone are fab).

Hollywood Glamour

The lovely Halle Berry graces the cover of Vogue's September issue. She looks fabulous even if she's just out and about running errands, but her hair styled here really invokes old Hollywood glamour. I love every shot!

On the Cat Walk

I've always admired Christy Turlington not only is she smart and beautiful, but she has spent the last few years fighting on the behalf of pregnant women in underdeveloped countries. Thanks to Le Fashion blog for posting the link to 1993 documentary that she was featured in Cat Walk. This is the first part (the other nine are available here), it was also cool to see a younger Kate Moss (she seems somewhat naive), Naomi Campbell and even Carla Bruni (pre-plastic surgery and marriage to the president of France). My favorite part, the John Galliano show where the models we're instructed to run down the runway like they were being chased. Also look out for vintage Karl Lagerfeld. Enjoy!

Need to Know: Esperanza Spalding

I must admit I've heard about Esperanza before, but didn't really take a listen to after I saw her perform a tribute to Prince at the BET Awards.

She performed "Girlfriend" and definitely held her own against Janelle Monae and even Patti LaBelle. She hails from Portland, Oregon and performs classic jazz with a modern twists. Her first album then just check out her album Esperanza has been on constant replay on my ipod. And her second album Chamber Music Society, just relased today. . If you like Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu or even Ella Fitzgerald (one of my favorite singers) then she is definitely worth a listen. Besides anyone with hair as cool as hers has got to be a great performer ;).

Here she is on Jimmy Kimmel Live

As a bonus, here she is performing one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs Overjoyed

Gilt-Free Sale

When I found out that Mulberry was collaborating on a line with Target I was excited to see what they would come up with, especially since I'm such a fan of the Mulberry Alexa bag. So imagine my surprise when I found out that the Gilt Groupe would host a 36-hour preview sale featuring Mulberry, John Derian for Target and Tucker for Target items. The sale begins at noon on Friday, August 20. If you're not already a member you can use my invite code and sign up here (once you're signed in you can get your own invite code to forward to your friends). Enjoy!

Steal This Look

I promise...no more Katy Perry posts for at least a few weeks ;D. Here's my take on her Teen Choice Award performance. I pulled jeggings (there has to be another name for them!) and the Top Shop version, which have a lace insert are only $30! Enjoy!

SN: Today is my birthday!! Yeah me. I see relaxing, cake and ice cream on the horizon! Have a great day!

Another Day, More Katy

One of my favorite songs so far this summer. Here's Katy Perry's new video for "Teenage Dream", I like her styling in this video it's a lot more subdued, it doesn't even look like she has on a lot of make up.

Teenage Dream

Katy Perry co-hosted the 2010 Teen Choice Awards with the guys of Glee and had the costume changes to prove it.  The show airs tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox. My favorite looks of the night? Katy the prom queen, Katy in a strapless, striped mini and of course just plain old Katy in a much more demure performance outfit of tights, gray shirt and black vest, definitely more tame than her California Gurls look. Enjoy!

Adventures in Baking

I was craving an Oreo cake so I hunted the web for a recipe. I probably should have taken more photos as I baked, but I really wasn't sure how this cake would turn out, therefore wasn't sure if I would post. Luckily, it came out pretty good! So, I decided to share. I took the recipe from Annie's Eat's blog and modified it .Here's my take:

Cookies and Cream (Oreo) Cake

Ingredients:

White cake mix

30 Oreos (or chocolate sandwich cookie) crumbled

8 oz of cream cheese (at room temperature)

1 stick of butter (I used salted) at room temperature

4 cups of powder sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp of heavy whipping cream (optional)

Directions:

Follow the directions for the cake mix. When blending is complete, add half of the cookie crumble mixture and stir, to make the crumbles I placed cookies in a sandwich bag and had my  4 year-old niece crumble them with a pot (she had fun). Pour mix into baking pans (I used to 8 by 8 baking pans). Follow mix instructions for baking time (I placed my cakes in for 30 minutes).

Now the fun part, the cream cheese frosting:

Blend cream cheese and butter in bowl with mixer at medium to high speed. One cup at a time add powder sugar, be sure to scrape the sides. Add vanilla extract and heavy whipping cream (if you so please) and mix until blended.

Finally, when the cake is frosted (I actually cut each layer in half to make a four layer cake) sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbles on the top of the cake.

I loved the end result! It was quick and easy and my tasting crew (my sisters and cousin), loved it! Enjoy!

The first slice, it was delish!

Beach, Please!

Former Victoria Secret designer Matthew Zink, started his on line of swimwear and cover-ups, the line is Charlie by Matthew Zink, I stopped by the site and loved the way they styled this model, it's very glam'70s. Especially love the turban and hair. Check out this article on the line by the Miami Herald here.

A Girl Named Zoe

Zoe Kravitz is definitely one of my favorite style stars. She has a unique style and manages to blend rock and roll, bohemian and modern styles. Here are a few of my favorite looks.
