Boots for Fall

Living in Miami I am always jealous of people who live up north and get to wear layers and sweaters for fall. Fortunately, Miami does get a bit of cool weather every now in then starting in late October/November, so I get to break out a pair or two of my favorite boots. On those not so cool days booties are low enough and comfortable enough to wear with my favorite jeans. Best part? The shoes listed below go up to size 12 in most colors. Have a great day!

Orphan Black

Who else is watching the brilliance that is Orphan Black? That amazing show that showcases the beyond fabulous performance of Tatiana Maslany? If you haven't watched it yet, let me catch you up: a grifter takes over another woman's life, who just happens to look like her. The catch - she's her clone. Soon Sarah, finds herself immeshed in a tangled web that includes her and her fellow clones running from two separate groups who want to use them. Each episode is a none stop road of fun.

I've brought this up to say that in the coming weeks I plan on running outfit posts based on each of the main clones: Sara, Helena, Cosima and Alison. For instance, Sara is none for her punk aesthetic with skinny jeans, cool t-shirts and a leather jacket along with body jewelry from some place like FreshTrends. You can catch up from the beginning on Amazon Prime. For now, check out the trailer below.

DASH

Speaking of graduation's, my little sister is graduating from a Design School, this weekend they hosted a Senior Art Show case which featured fashion, sculptures and paintings. Here are a few of my favorites.

Fiorella C.

I went to their fashion show last week and this was definitely one of my favorite looks (though to be fair, there was a lot of amazing looks on that runway)

Hands Free

I was a little skeptical about the whole small, crossbody bag trend. It just didn't seem possible that I could fit all of the things I place in my regular (extra) large handbags (a little notebook, lotion, wallet, phone and miscellaneous stuff that I pick up along the way). However, when I saw the last of the Mulberry for Target bags a few months ago (they were on serious clearance at that point) I decided to give this little number a try. I started wearing it a few days ago and the freedom I feel walking around with nothing in my hands is unbelievable. Sure, it doesn't fit my wallet, but it fits the important things, my ipod, lotion and anti-bacterial stuff phone and my sunglasses. All in all, it's my new favorite bag. Of course, now I am on the hunt for a small colorful bag to add to my collection.

This Kate Spade may do the trick:

A Vogue Idea

Saw this video on Anna Wintour and just had to share. It's a brief look on her career, but there was a lot in it that I wasn't aware of...like she was fired from one of her first editing jobs for being to "European" and that she worked as a fashion editor for a women's erotic magazine (you read that right). It's incredibly inspiring. Enjoy :)

Oh Isabel

Just can't get enough of these shorts from Isabel Marant's Spring '11 collection. Everything from the shorts, to the sweater to the boots with those bracelet's is perfection. It's the epitome of laid-back cool, which is why I love Marant's collections so much.

In the Mood: Trenchcoat

Since I live in Miami, we don't really have full fledged seasons, so things like coats, sweaters, any type of knitwear really isn't necessary...a good trenchcoat is a whole other story...they're lightweight and add instant chic to any look...here are a few of my favorite looks.

Mary Kate and Ashley

I am always inspired by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, not only do I have a lot of respect for their work ethic,  after reading this article about them in Vogue's Power issue (can be found here online), it makes me want to think bigger.  They are wise well beyond their years and you can tell that they really love what they do, which makes me want to jump head first into really focusing on those things that bring me joy (acting, writing) I have dreams of running my own television show...

“The thing about us,” Mary-Kate says, “is we think big. Huge."

Rihanna for Vogue

So, yeah, eventually I may have to change this blog's name to the Rihanna Diaries (catchy right), but until then, check out these photos of her in April's Vogue shot by Annie Leibovitz.

Boxing Kitten

I stumbled across Boxing Kitten when I found out about these oxford shoes, I had to find out more about the line. It's a vintage-inspired line started by Maya Anima Lake and the features bold African prints. I love the look and feels of these photos, the line mixes bold patterns and colors to create unique look.
